Ice on the Streets Painting

Inspired by a normal sight in Phnom Penh. Ice being delivered in huge blocks, often several feet long. An unusual sight when I first arrived, I was amazed and felt the need to create this memorable moment. The fact that the man is delivering ice at night time but still has his sleeves rolled up indicates the unescapable heat that Cambodia has in abundance. I want the viewer to feel the cold of the ice in the picture and imagine the backbreaking work that would be involved in moving these huge ice blocks around the city. The contrast in the background against the foreground in style is to have the viewers eye moving across the different textures and different subject.
