The icon is executed in technique of ancient art imitation. This iconography was widespread in 16th century Russian icon-painting. The faces are executed in accordance with the 16th century Russian tradition. This icon is a unique, one of a kind works of art best represents the ancient art imitation. I developed my own unique style and created modern Russian Icons stylized under olden time, created in the style of XVI century. Saint Grand Prince the Pious Alexander Nevsky is one of our country’s beloved heroes. In times of great hardship, he protected not only Rus but our Orthodox faith. The icon shows the figure of the saint prince; he is holding a rod in his right hand, and a shield and a sheathed sword in his left. Saint prince is portrayed standing on the dark-green ground. The figure of the saint prince is shown against a pale yellow (light ochre with yellowish tint) background color. He is portrayed dressed in a dark-green shirt and a richly decorated golden armor suit (military garment, the armor – the coat of mail decorated with the patterns). His golden armor suit richly decorated with dark-blue (steel grey-blue, slate color) plates on the shoulders and waist. The golden armor suit is covered with a long red cloak with exquisite pattern pinned to the chest ( tied on the chest). Saint prince is portrayed dressed in a royal robe, decorated with ermine and red shoes (boots). The white pigments can be seen on the clothes. The halo is golden with red outlines. The figure of the saint prince is portrayed full-face. The face of the Saint is noted for the profound and contemplative expression. Saint has an oval face with delicate feature. The face of the Saint with a high forehead and the dark brown eyes is framed by the light hair and the curly beard. The silhouette of the figure is exquisite, the colors are pure but diluted by the light reduced ochres. The face is painted graphically and is covered with the intense highlights. Saint is portrayed as a middle-aged man with the striking features of the face. He is good-looking, handsome, fabulous and attractive men. The style and color of icon may be traced back to the Novgorod iconographic tradition. The color solution of the icon is based on the typical Novgorodian three-color scheme – red, green and yellow. The image is noted for internal expression, the bright and sparkling with color highlights clothes of the Saint, slim proportions and bright colors. The slim figure of the Saint is portrayed with disproportionally a small head. The color scheme with traditional “Novgorod” colors (dark-green, red and yellow ochre), energetic outlines of clothes and slim figure betray the influence of Novgorodian icons. Smooth lines and exquisite color scheme convey an ideal image of the Saint. The icon is painted graphically, its color and silhouette of the figure are quite exquisite. The icon is noted for its contrast color solution – a red-cinnabar (vermilion) cloak, a golden armor suit, a royal robe, decorated with white ermine, red shoes (boots), a cyan trousers and dark-green, almost emerald, shirt against a pale yellow (light ochre with yellowish tint) background color. Saint’s image look majestic. His slim elongated figure has classic outlines. The image is cased in red (cinnabar) frame.
