About The Artwork
Inspired by an Alan Watts talk where he speaks of a Zen poem that goes ‘You cannot catch hold of it, nor can you get rid of it. In not being able to get it, you get it. When you speak, it is silent. When you are silent, it speaks.’ This painting is my interpretation of the "it". The mudra is a hand position that is used to calm the mind. Once that's has been achieved the mouth of the "IT" opens and shares all sorts of knowledge in unusual ways
