I imagined I was reborn in 2080 and I had a daughter. I imagined in the future we could chose our children. But then I thought this baby was my grandaughter. And I imagined my daughter in law was a Oaxacan young woman. And so on. This is a classic image of virgen y niño, only it's a girl. and the world is not ruled by male.

I am interested in experimenting with sincretic images that capture the whole range of religious experiences. I am inspired by the architecture and mural paintings of the Aztecs, Mayan, Zapotecan and other peoples from America and I like to intersect them with the aesthetics brought to America by the Spanish, like virgins, saints and holy beings. I intersect them with a third paradigm which is my personal journey into Indian philosophies and the idea of enlightenment. The result shows where I am now, believing that art is the way, and being an artist is my religion.
