ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"In for the Win" was inspired by my love of race horses. Their contours are so expressive of the movement in the race. In this painting, I wanted to emphasize the contrast between horse and rider while uniting them as a single subject. The painting is acrylic on a deep canvas (2.5"). The sides of the canvas are painted a deep black/brown to complement the colors of the painting. The greens and browns are deep and a bit mysterious while the whites of the jockey uniform and the brilliant orange of the track provide a clean contrast. The style is a bit abstracted but also impressionistic in form. The colors remind me of the expressionism movement as well. The paint is applied with medium thickness and some of the brushwork is visible. The painting can be hung as is or it could be professionally framed.
