About The Artwork

Inspired by the painting Snozi Wandozi created by David Bennison, this painting wants to visually convey a sense of light and contrast from the foreground ruins to the stormy background sky. Subject matter is based on the human condition and continues a theme (and personal obsession) with all the other paintings in this series by David Bennison. They are all linked visually and by their meaning ( multiple metaphors for life). The word Izod Izons is a play and part-reversal of Snozi Wandozi which comes from the original text; Snozi Wanodzi which means Bon Voyage in Kashubian. Izod Izons is actually a smaller version of Snozi Wandozi and it is painted in reverse. Opposed to a good Journey, Izod Izons suggests a return from journeying perhaps to a cold, uninviting welcome with clear problems on the horizon. The contrast offered in the painting also suggests the difference between leaving happily and returning to conflict. This ready to hang original artwork has been painted on wooden board and personally signed and supplied with a certificate of authenticity from Saatchi Art and the artist, David Bennison. This Painting is unframed

Graduating from the Cambridge school of Art in Illustration, David Bennison is a full-time British artist living and working in Cambridge, UK. His concepts have remained firmly grounded in the exploration of curvilinear perspective which complements his current work that has its origins in visual dream interpretation. David’s fine art painting explores ethereal and figurative subject matter that is interweaved with multiple viewpoints to produce intangible landscapes that continue a narrative from one canvas to the next. Repeated metaphors suggestive of sexuality, birth and death, seemingly make subtle relationships with confusing, existential pathways of everyday life. Obvious inspirations to David’s work have included the architectural drawings of Piranesi, graphic artist M.C. Escher, Illustrator Paul Hess and local artist and printmaker Glynn Thomas.
