About Michael DeBonis Michael DeBonis 58 years old Pennsylvania based artist working in oils on canvas. Style: Varies. Abstract expressionism, surrealism, cubism. I am a self taught artist who has been painting since 1996. I started out in the medium of acrylic paint but found that I couldn’t get the paint to do what I wanted to. Not knowing much about oil paints, I purchased some and so my love for the arts and painting in oil began. Early on I had success in some local solo exhibits. Then I had the opportunity to exhibit at The Ohio City Gallery (Cleveland, OH) Solo Exhibit, Agora Gallery (Chelsea, NY), Mac Worthington Gallery (Columbus, OH), Water fire Art Festival (Sharon, PA) and 2016 Art Expo Pier 93 (NYC) ( Pittsburgh Pa ) 3 Rivers fest show 2016. I’m always looking to where my next venue I will show my works, but in that process I will continue to create my next piece. When I enter my studio I leave my body outside the door and only enter with my soul. My[ favorite painting is always the one I am working on. It’s always still difficult letting a painting go when it is purchased, but it is always an honor to me when someone purchases one. As an artist I can not say if there was any great artist had any influence on me, there is so much diversity of art and artist in the art world from the past and present , I think we all influence each other in some way or another. Have sold art through Agora Gallery New York, 5 piece commissioned work to accounting firm Dolan and Group in Pennsylvania, which is now called Phonix group. A collector in the Boston Ma area has purchased several works, private collectors from Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Seattle Washington.
