About The Artwork
The painting is a representation of “life”, as understood in Classical Indian Thought. Indian thought sees “life” as made up of five elements, “Panch Tatva” in Sanskrit. The five elements are Sky, Earth, Air, Water and Fire. The work symbolises living beings in forms with the harmonious merge of the five elements in the backdrop. The work is executed in a the artist's characteristic rhythmic style and belongs to the whole series called 'Panch Tatva'. The painting is expected to open a window to the classical Indian thought, as indeed to others, including Greek philosophy on the origins of life and to the larger eternal question on the purpose of life itself. The artist believes that a painting is to be a pleasing visual experience. But more than that, it also must be an expression of a deeper thoughts, becoming a via media in acquainting the viewer to the same.
