About The Artwork

Embroidery has a longstanding connection with everyday life, like looking back to the simple ways in the roles of human activity. From the 1970’s, when feminist artists turned to embroidery to make a statement which transformed it from being considered a craft to being art. Coming from a contemporary painting background I consider this medium not to be different from sewing. Instead of a brush I use a needle and instead of paint I use thread. This work is a record of my research and investigation of figurative works, from psychology to abstraction which is expansion of my documented artistic territory to surpass my own limits. I have discovered that an eye could express something only when it is on a face. Without any other facial elements, it would become a symbol of seeing or guarding or even intellectual enlightenment. And I care about seeing the most. Nowadays, seeing is not between human beings but it also means seeing and being seen through many forms of technology such as a surveillance camera or traffic camera. But instead of using new media to tap the potential of mutated technological identifications, I employ the physically tangible mediums, embroidery and painting, in my artistic approaches, to intuitively embrace and interpret the vulnerability of humans in the immaterial world of digital media.
