PHOTO : LSZ PHOTOGRAPHY CANVAS PAINTINGS : Sarah I. Avni Mix of photography and acrylic painting on canvas On this painting you can see the last preserved piece of “parta” from Kálnica. Only a girl who did not have a child at that time could have worn this “parta”. The last time the “parta” appeared at a wedding was in the mid 1940’s. Parta is decorated with glass beads, waxy florets and various shiny toothed plates called “cingrlátka”. Above the ears on each side there are white flowers, then on the top there are three long red embroidered ribbons reaching to the waist. The red color symbolizes life, blood and a young woman suitable for conception. As an addition to the “parta” there is a chaplet made from fresh rosemary springs.
