This is 1 of 8 of a "Lost Empire" series. Here, is King Sargon of Akkad who was the ruler of the first empire (named the Akkadian Empire) in Mesopotamia, 24th-22nd century BC. The sculptural head sits against an Iranian rug textile, outlined with colored thread. I was just mulling over how all empires come to an end, sooner or later.
