The title of this painting is Kjærlighet i København (in Norwegian), which means "Love in Copenhagen." If you say the name in Norwegian or Swedish (Kärlek i Köpenhamn) you get alliteration in the title and a nice sound. This painting was a gift to someone. This is the neighborhood in Copenhagen called Christianshavn and there were many swans on the canals. The church in the distance is Church of Our Savior with an amazing staircase that is outside the tower that you can climb up to get a nice view of the city. (NOR) Jeg husker at da jeg var i København, bestemte jeg meg å male denne utsikten i Christianshavn bare fordi jeg ville benevne maleriet «Kjærlighet i København» fordi jeg likte navnets lyd (alliterasjon igjen med «k» bokstaver og uttalen) og det var mange svaner på kanalene. Man kan si navnet bare på norsk eller svensk («Kärlek i Köpenhamn» på svensk) å få den riktige lyden, men ikke på fransk eller engelsk (beklager, funker ikke!). Hvis dere prøver å skape en oversettelse, som «Les cygnes à Copenhague,» eller «The Church and Canal in Christianshavn in Copenhagen,» mister man betydningen. (FR) J’ai employé de nouvelles techniques de peindre les vagues et l’eau, surtout car j’ai remarqué que la couleur de la mer en Suède et Danmark est un bleu très spécifique, comparativement à l’océan à Newport, Rhode Island, les plages de Massachusetts, ou même le port de Boston. Il y a quelques teintes de bleu et un peu d’une couleur irisée de former les ombres et le reflet du soleil. Tous mes tableaux sont difficiles à prendre en photo à cause de la peinture irisée. (SWE) Kirkan i fjärran är Vor Frelsers Kirke och jag rekommenderar att klättra till toppen, men bara om ni inte är rädd för höjd. Man får en jättefint utsikt av Köpenhamn och man kan låtsas att veta vilka byggnader man tittar på från toppen av tornspiran.

Chelsea E. Dill has always been interested in art since childhood and was often found with a paintbrush in her hand. After years of filling sketchbooks with drawings, Chelsea ventured into painting, especially having come from a family of artists. Primarily self-taught, Chelsea works in acrylic paint and her artwork has been featured in several local art shows. She enjoys painting maritime scenes and is always inspired from the incredible places from her travels. In addition to painting, Chelsea enjoys knitting, especially garments with traditional Nordic motifs. She is also especially interested in Norway and has studied the Norwegian language for several years. Some of Chelsea’s paintings are inspired by Norwegian expressions and culture, such as artwork about the traditional bonfire on Sankt Hans eve, and a painting that embodies the term “Hyttekos,” the cozy feeling of sitting next to a fireplace in a cabin on a snowy evening.
