In this nude with golden hues, a woman is lying on an invisible floor, languid, as if she were sunbathing. The sun is not there, we can only guess its presence beyond the darkness surrounding the model. In addition to the ocher and gold hues, the painted version of this painting shows a kind of vertical glow, through stripes that cross the painting as if the woman's body was emitting radiation. An inner sun? (The title in French means : The Empire of the Sun)

This artwork is made using a mixed technique on canvas. It combines photography, digital art and acrylic painting (glazing and varnish looking a bit like lacquer and raised golden squares which seem to pop out of the canvas), it is an original, one-of-a-kind piece. The painting is framed in black (total dimensions are approximately 85 x 65 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
