About The Artwork

“Life keeps throwing me stones. And I keep finding the diamonds...” This is a saying by Ana Claudia Antunes from her book. I sometimes feel like my life is like a rollercoaster that I cannot get off. When it falls from the top, I just know that life is throwing me stones. However, it is important to find diamonds at that very moment. I have put this thought into this artwork and painted colourfully shining diamonds in a rollercoaster-like life. You might feel joy or fright depending on which part of this artwork you focus on. Life cannot be always happy, but I suggest you not to close your eyes and scream but to open your eyes and find your diamond.

Instagram: @sungheekim_arts MD: https://marpple.shop/en/sungheekim Rental: https://www.opengallery.co.kr/artist/A1262/ I am a mother of 4 children and a dog, who started my art career to make myself and people around the world happy. Art is an expression of my everyday life, confirmation of the things I value, and a way to be myself. To do so, I try to understand agony and joy for them to be reinterpreted through nature. Trees, flowers, and birds are the biggest inspiration to my works as well as a comfortable chair which always suggests me a place to think. My childhood living in three different countries; South Korea, Japan, and the U.K., affected my artworks and made me more open-minded in my approaches. I use various materials in mixture. Pastels, pens, crayons, acrylic paints, and watercolours are frequently being used in my drawings and paintings on paper or canvas. Unique tools like cotton buds, toothpicks often catch my mind as well. Adapting new technologies is as important as experimenting with diverse methods. Drawings are digitally transformed to be explored in another dimension, which is usually printed on different surfaces such as archival papers, canvas, carpet, linen, and more. I also add a final touch for my digital paintings. I have been selling art merchandises designed with my artwork, and have participated in several collaborations with different companies worldwide. My artworks make me happy. I very much hope you could find your own light of happiness through my artworks. Let us make the world a better place with Arts!
