4.5 cm deep is pretty substantial and this might not need a frame. it is very nice to have it at the entrance of my studio and look at it closely. it has many colors, more that one see at first glance.
different background different effect.

About The Artwork

I have been thinking on my new grandchild. It is interesting to think of a human being without or before I know their gender. With all the politically correctness and so much talk about it, it is really not that difficult to think of someone as just a human. if you think of children, sometimes they are not so defined anyway. so, the being at the right side could be a boy or a girl. I am not that much into strong male or female characters. Anyway, this is about friendship. the other being that is on the left looks like a robot but it is just a disguise. of course, if someone is very well disguised you wouldn't be able to tell it. that is, if all you had was a painting like this. I like to look at this painting and see how in my mind I could be both. I like to think of myself as the weird being on the left and feel he support and friendship of the one on the right. and viceversa. the one on the right is so normal and cute and sometimes it is nice to be friends with the weird ones.

I am interested in experimenting with sincretic images that capture the whole range of religious experiences. I am inspired by the architecture and mural paintings of the Aztecs, Mayan, Zapotecan and other peoples from America and I like to intersect them with the aesthetics brought to America by the Spanish, like virgins, saints and holy beings. I intersect them with a third paradigm which is my personal journey into Indian philosophies and the idea of enlightenment. The result shows where I am now, believing that art is the way, and being an artist is my religion.
