LA MAJA NEGRA Painting

This work is part of the IVAGINÁRIO series - a somewhat sexist title, but which at the time it was created was a provocation that seemed to make sense - a series that has the feminine as its theme. The composition was inspired by the work A MAJA DESNUDA, by Francisco de GOYA, to which I added an interior environment with an elongated and distorted perspective. On the divan, on the walls, on the ceiling and on the railing, placed in front, I explored the possibilities of motifs in the painting. Painted in acrylic on canvas with touches of Conté crayon and collage. As for the collage, after several work sessions “fighting” to be able to define La Maja's face without succeeding, the idea of a mask came to me, a collage that would add to the face the right dose of mystery and seduction.
