About The Artwork

This piece was inspired by the news report of of the killing of one of the last two rhinos of this particular stripe , leaving a solo survivor, the last of his kind. this painting aims to create awareness to the subject at matter, but as well to remind us of the question: why do we need to frame , cage, enslave , destroy and kill all that is magnificent , unique, priceless, how powerful are we that all we do is make it all disappear? (this same rhino was shot and killed later in the same year) Involving graffiti influences with heavy symbolism references surrounded with abstract elements delivering a strong message in its own contemporary style. Painted over regular canvas using acrylic, spray paint and markers,. The combination of materials produces different textures and a bigger dynamic effect on the composition. This was the first painting of an ongoing project titled "Urban Animals". Optionally to be fitted with golden or a white frame containing the continuation of the abstract in the painting.
