Lewis and Clark’s expedition was one of the most fascinating ones for me. Besides their heroic endurance of extreme hardship, the rich cultures of the Indian people in the west and the splendid geological history of the land are particularly interesting to me. This painting is an imagined scene of them, two men in a canoe, seeing the petroglyphs of the Indians.
