About The Artwork

Who Am I? Is a question that many have asked through the centuries. A question answered by expressionistic brush. 'Light looks at itself in the mirror and sees itself as man' in visual terms describes the human paradox. From a blazing sun above brown hills comes a blaze of light turning into an arm holding a mirror. In the mirror we see a face. It is as if the light looking in the mirror sees itself as human. We are lights fooled by mirrors into thinking we are human, gravity bound. The painting is an allegorical painting, following the footsteps of the great religious paintings who depicted fables visually. While they did so classically with a mannered realistic brush, here we use an expressionistic brush. The contrast between colors from a Rembrandt painting, themes of classicists and the casual swish of expressionism adds further dynamism.
