About The Artwork

This Mark Rothko-inspired piece is a simple way for me to compliment the pure genius of Rothko. I first saw this large oil painting on a rectangular, vertically oriented canvas in Tate Modern a couple of years back, I took a print in my studio, and even though our styles are completely different, "Pure Rothko" simplified compositions of geometric shapes in unbroken color is so overwhelming, that using the color palette in my works is something I will use and chase - subconsciously.

My works are a form of meditation, a way to express my subconscious ever-searching mind for all things beautiful and meaningful. The process I profess is that - before immersing into a new piece I start simple, but quite intuitive and fast, sketching is swift and sharp. Then the details emerge from the raw shapes and start to form sculpture-like figures. This is when my art evolves, the moment one can show craftsmanship skills: texture, shape, shadow, and playing with light, all of them are part of my process and I use them as tools to create something beautiful and rich in depth. A part of intuition, which I chose as a driving force, the next crucial part of my artistic process is experimentation. I find mixing mediums, developing my personal techniques, and adding unconventional materials to be just as important. This part of my artistic path has led me to the great enjoyment of hand-sculpting and developing in depth-art pieces from scratch. The studio life is never boring, never dull. Surrounding myself with interesting mediums, always experimenting and changing with the combination of mind-clearification is what I do. Being able to create and call that work is a blessing!
