Lilac Rooster Painting

My name is Leonora Recinos. I was born in Guatemala, Central America, in an artist family, to which Efraín Recinos and Carlos Mérida belonged. I grew up with their works – these have always accompanied me – and so I learned about colors and canvas quite early in my childhood. I now live in Switzerland with my husband and my cat. My love of nature and animals is what inspires me. I adore cats, that is why they are a main subject in my paintings. The colors I prefer certainly find their roots in the typical Guatemalan colors – deep, profound, strong. As soon as I have a motive in mind, the colors appear. I don't have to think about them. They are just there, waiting to be put to canvas by the spatula. I love painting, it makes me happy. And my paintings make me smile and feel cheery.
