About The Artwork
I've just spent a couple of days in Giverny so that I could visit Monet's garden during varying times of each day (to photograph the changes the light made to his pond in particular). I was blown away by his home, especially his kitchen: all yellows and blue and white tiles, with copper pans hanging on the wall, so I used this scene as my background for this painting. I love painting Stargazer lilies, so I included these in this domestic scene, adding the Chinese pin cushion and lace table cloth to reflect a typical local scene.
