VIEW IN MY ROOM
This piece was inspired by the Dance of the Chains Living Art Project performed in 2009-10. The project was a live performance artwork based on a painting I did in 2008. This was created from that performance. It is oil and enamel paints on vinyl screen mounted on gallery wrapped canvas. This work was featured in a retrospective exhibition at the Coral Springs Museum of Art from March - May 2018.

Al was born in Providence, Rhode Island, USA in 1954. He moved to South Florida in 1979 where he currently resides. ARTIST STATEMENT: Whether I am painting representational pictures or something purely abstract, I want the surface to be energetic and active enough to pull the viewer closer like a magnet. When I paint images my need to understand who I am as a person and the dynamics of the world around me is revealed in some expressive manner. When my work is abstract, I enter a subconscious world where expressive movement and color guide each gesture and shape to completion, and its essence seems to be captured from an endless sea of electronic impulses.
