About The Artwork

"Lobster fight " Friends advised me to read the book of the popular author-psychologist J.B. Peterson "12 rules of life". The book is very interesting, with great personal experience of the author himself and good practical psychological advice. And it begins with a chapter that talks about lobsters: how they live in a difficult competition for territory, food and life, and that we humans are in some way very similar to these relatively simple creatures. Each of us, at least once in our life, has been in the position of a winner or a loser. This is inevitable in life. But if you weren’t lucky this time, don't give up. Straighten your back and straighten your shoulders! My painting shows a moment of inner battle between two young women. At first glance, the advantage of the woman on the left is obvious: it is clear that she has a higher social status, as evidenced by her stylish look and self-confidence. The woman on the right seems to come from a simpler environment: her hair is not styled, a simple T-shirt with red and white stripes, and traces of blood on her face. It can be seen that this battle brings her more damage than her opponent. Still, the result is not so obvious - there is a lot of persistence in the eyes of both sides. Painting is from a series of works "What’s up, Bunny?" created between 2021 and 2022. This collection reveals the author's desire to tell common human stories, to convey different psychological states and moods through recognizable images, and to look at one's life problems and experiences with a smile. Do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.

For the past few years, I have been concentrating on the theme of animate and inanimate nature. Starting with the theme of roots and delving into the beauty and variety of small details of flowering meadows. In the context of nature, I include lonely images of people as an integral part of the living world. In depicting human beings, for me, it is not only their physical beauty that is important, but also the transmission of their momentary mood, psychological well-being. Sometimes in my drawings I allow myself to be ironic about myself and what I find funny or remarkable in other people. But at the same time, I consciously avoid depressive and aggressive images, because it contradicts my inner ethic not to multiply the violence in the world. I would like to classify my work as Magical Realism, but I think my work reflects more of a psychological Existentialism, looking for its embodiment in natural motifs. 1995-1999 studies at Vilnius Academy of Arts and in 1999.
