Look, a Hummingbird Painting

This is a portrait of Cara Delevigne, and a chance encounter with a hummingbird. I used a reference from a runway shot of her looking, as I wanted to capture the eyes, and have them interact with this magical creature. I've had some magical experiences with hummingbirds myself that inspired the idea for the painting. Once after training Tai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong for an hour along the water at Treasure Island in the San Francisco bay, I began to practice my Tai Chi Straight sword with slow flowing movements. A Hummingbird flew in front of my, stopped, and watched me for about one minute. I felt proud to capture it's attention. Even more synchronistic, once while painting a hummingbird on canvas, I noticed one fly up to our two story balcony window. I knew that I had called it to me, by painting it. Just then, my roommate looked up from his DJ-ing and noticed the bird. He said, "Look dude, a hummingbird." He had not noticed what I had been painting for the past 20 minutes, so I pointed down at my painting of a hummingbird, and repeated his statement saying, "Look, dude, a hummingbird", and blew his mind. Hence, the name of this painting, "Look, a hummingbird", capturing that moment, and the look of Cara Delevigne.
