About The Artwork

This work was inspired by expressive drawing and getting into a state of flow.I hope the viewers will see the humor in the image as two people are communicating together. Looking at You is an abstract figurative image. The sizing is 22 x 28 inches on wood surface with paper attached to panel. The idea explores a new vision I am working on where abstract paintings kind of morph themselves into a trance like state where some type of unconscious figure appears. I like how the light and dark parts of the painting work in harmony with each other, The colorful pinks and orange and the deep blacks and grey. The thin white lines compliment the dark brooding shapes as the two figures are involved in some sort of dialogue or non verbal dance. The artwork will be wrapped in bubble wrap with free shipping included in the United States. Contact me with any questions gman@marcgarrisonartist.com

BEHIND THE ART Process I make abstract paintings and drawings and focus on paint and ink application, color and line. I employ a variety of media on a foundation of acrylic paint and monotype inks. Important aspects of my works on paper begin with a digital print out of a scanned black and white drawing. Then I add monotype inks along with thin washes of acrylic paint. My paintings contain wonderful aspects of mixed media collage with cut up pieces of monotype prints along with various other collaged or painted source materials. Vision I have always been drawn to making art. As a child , I became very interested in the early computer drawing and digital painting programs. Then I got involved in digital photography and became very involved in abstract photography. When I returned to Wayne State University to complete my BFA degree in painting and printmaking I became more focused on natural media like brushes and real paint. So I now I am caught between the digital and natural word but as you can see with some fabulous results. I hope you enjoy the artwork as much as I love making it.
