About The Artwork

Profits go to Bubby’s Union Theological Seminary Scholarship Fund. Trumpet player, composer, singer and actor. Louis Armstrong is one of the most celebrated and most influential jazz musicians of all time. Moreover, he is arguably one of the most famous and influential Americans of all time. Although often criticized for what seemed to be a non-confrontational stance on race, Armstrong was a staunch supporter of desegregation and publicly protested the government’s inaction in the Little Rock school integration conflict by canceling a state-organized tour of the Soviet Union.

For Bubby’s and Azuca owner Ron Silver, creating art is a way of visually communicating questions about existence and experiencing the universality of beauty. Silver’s attitude about art is heavily influenced by Japanese culture and its emphasis on being of service to the community. Inspired by a lifetime of mentors and teachers from Alfredo Futuro and Egon Schiele to the Renaissance painters and Plato, his energetic relationships with the greats have guided him to be the artist he is today.
