Human civilization has come a long way in the way we view our history. In pursuit of truth, we dig and update the records of the past. History is what brought us here today. Just as my parents and their ancestors in history existed to give my life, history is very much a part of us. Yet, we can never go back in time, certainly to re-write what we know according to the political expedience. The glass pyramid by I M Pei was completely controversial in the 80s when it was built. It was too modern, a glass structure in the sacred ancient ground of cultural heritage. But look how it reflects the history - the past, good and bad, of the Napoleonic period symbolized by the palace it reflects. Like the glass pyramid, our history reflects off us - in harmony with the past and present. Instead of tearing down selective history, we may benefit more by learning from our past brings us a better future for us and for our children, so that we may not repeat the history we wish to rid of.
