Art Description

Painting: Acrylic on Canvas.

This piece is 3 yards long, and is part of my 'Love Series' / Love by the yard project started in 2016

LOVE BY THE YARD (Art by the Yard) (2016)
by Vicky Barranguet
Acrylic on canvas
63 inches wide x variable inches high

Love by the Yard is an interactive installation which invites collectors to participate in the creative process.
Vicky invites collectors to decide where to cut the painted roll of canvas, resulting in unique unpredictable pieces which vary in size, orientation and composition.
The whole work will be considered 'complete' when the original roll of canvas is cut into pieces according to collectors’ choices.
The artist will use any pieces that remain following the interactive process to create a new final work of art called Remnant.

Inspired by the poetry of Jorge Arbeleche, Vicky says this of her work:
"Art is about love and emotions... we certainly cannot buy or sell love, patience, kindness, solidarity, compassion.
Buying a yard of art means much more than just acquiring a piece of canvas with some paint. It contains essential values, contrast, darkness and light, dreams, reality and life."

"Están vendiendo el amor y la alegría lo anuncian con luces de mercurio
y una música miente
la fabulosa leyenda
de lo eterno.
He de entrar,
y si queda aún, me llevaré
un metro de amor y un par de risas"
–Jorge Arbeleche
----
“They're selling love and joy they announce it with neon lights and a music lies
the fabulous tale
of the eternal.
I shall enter
and if there is some left, I'll take
a yard of love and a couple of laughs”
–Jorge Arbeleche
