About The Artwork
I painted this with a conversation I heard when I was young. The latter half of the dad's advice (college, business degree) was actually from my life. Naturally, as sons do, I went in another direction. It wasn't until after the painting was finished that I thought about "Space Oddity" by David Bowie and Major Tom. I suppose this is an elegy to Bowie as well as an imagined conversation poor Major Tom may have had with his father.
