She was an inspirational activist promoting education and women´s rights already at age 11-12. When she was 15 she was already so feared by the Taliban that she was shot in the head. She survived to become one of the most admired Nobel Peace Prize winners of all time. Through all of this she seems to have been able to remain a bright ordinary girl with a delightful sense of humor. I painted this "iconic" portrait in 2015, but I repainted it on top of it three times, the final time in 2017. My subjects are iconic people / topics that have had an impact on me or our society. I used 23K gold leaf on this painting - it emits a very rich mellow buttery glow. The painting is signed on the back and has my “e” symbol on the front. The painting continues around the sides, so it is ready to hang unframed.
