About The Artwork

Marie Curie's family. An impressive family in many respects: Marie Curie, brilliant scientific, was 24 when she has arrived in France to study since women in Poland were still not having this right in that time. Her success (and what a success!) is therefore a real symbol of integration worldwide. Marie Curie, THE first nobelisée woman, a real symbol for the feminism (NB: the Nobel prize has been awarded to 47 women since today). Marie Curie has been nobelised twice (!), a real symbol for every scientist (NB: 6 times the Nobel prize was put back to the same person or the entity since now) Marie Curie and her dedication during the World War I with the implementation of the first medical radiographies on the battlefield), Symbol of dedication and humanism. Pierre Curie (her husband from 1895), Nobel prize with Marie as well as Henri Becquerel in 1903 (NB: 5 couples have been nobelised...) Pierre Curie, discoverer also of the piezoelectric effect, the law of Curie in the field of the magnetism... Pierre Curie died in 47 years crushed by a hackney cab in 1906. An impressive scientist unfortunately disappeared too early. Irène ( his elder daughter) and Frédéric Joliot-Curie ( her son-in-law ) Nobel prize also for their researches on nuclear power. Their political commitment will damage their career. (NB: Curie is the only family having been so much nobelised, only the red Cross was so much rewarded) I chose to represent them in the " style symbolic realism "; Here they are in Marie's office which is the Curie museum today. They are all together in spite of the impossibility that they lived such a moment. They are surrounded with bibliographic attributes symbolizing their work and their world gratitude or still their humanitarian commitment. The members of this family knew how to exceed the difficulties met on their ways of life. Their discoveries impact on our lives today still. This family stays and will stay even for a long time a symbol in numerous domains; Certain symbols have a particular weight in our time where advances towards the equality man-woman and the integration of the people are still - if it is not more damaged yet. A symbolic family which makes the good.
