About The Artwork

Medusa in Greek mythology is one of the three Gorgon sisters. According to the myth Medusa was once a beautiful woman, whose appearance was changed as a punishment from goddess Athene. In this painting Medusa is depicted during her transformation. The still-beautiful body is slowly covering itself with snake skin and the hair is already turned to vicious snakes with golden wings at her back. The name of god Poseidon is engraved on her bracelet. It is he, who caused all the suffering of Medusa. The look in her eyes is calling and fierce. I have painted it with a visual effect so that it feels like she is following the observer no matter at which side of the painting he stands.
