Memory Сells.Travel to Portugal Painting

Traveling allows you to accumulate memories, particles of which will sometimes emerge in your memory and warm your soul. Even at the most unexpected moment! This happened to me during quarantine, when the whole world paused. Only the travel memories allowed me to start working on a new series of “Memory Cells”. Our memory is very selective; I am interested in exploring memory markers. The first work consists of memories, associations associated specifically with my trip to Portugal. The painting is made with the style of the traditional Portuguese Azulejo tile, which is a painted clay tile, most often square, burnt, glazed, measuring 14 cm by 14 cm. These are small plots, my memories of this amazing country. The idea was to fill the picture with light, color, the joy of life, art, and so that each storyline echoes the neighboring one, and so that looking at the picture you wanted to go there. This is my dialogue with Portuguese artists - Ana Vieira (1940-2016) and her installation "Ambiente - Sala de Jantar" ("Environment - Dining"), as well as Almada Negreiros (1893 - 1970) and his work, which I met in Galust Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon. I liked the Museum of Modern Art (Modern Collection).
