About The Artwork
Abalone shells hold great warmth and in some cultures the abalone is a symbol of calmness and believed to offer protection and tranquility to the owner. Painting this shell was a challenge and complete joy wrapped into one. With the light the colors on the shell changed and bounced around. The slightest movement of the shell changed the perspective. The center of the shell holds fascinating detail. I opted to use a molding paste technique I utilize in my abstracts for the center portion of this realism piece. I am so please with the outcome.
