About The Artwork

MI NIÑA is also a reminder of all those beautiful old dinghies that one can see all along the Caribbean beaches, with its many layers of colourful paint and as many years of service to the coastal communities.Making the viewer wish he/she was there enjoying the beautiful sun and the glorious warm waters. It also represents the labour of love by the fishermen that work on them from dawn to dusk with a couple of "siesta time" hours at midday. This painting is a mix of bush and painting knives work.

I was born in Colombia but have lived in New Zealand with my Kiwi husband since 1975, that is when I tried China painting for a couple of years with a private tutor. Then children came along and had no time for painting until 1994 when I attended watercolour classes at mac (Mairangi Arts Centre) for a few years, doing just OK. But it was in 2006 while living in Fiji that I came across oil painting and fell in love with this medium immediately. My internationally recognised artist cousins gave me their support and encouragement to continue with my painting and 10 years later I still love painting in oils. For the past 24 years I have worked as a Tour Guide for Spanish speaking visitors to NZ, spending from 4 to 20 days showing them beautiful New Zealand. I also play golf twice a week and go boating and fishing with my husband. NOTE: All my art work is signed as "C. Pinzón" which is my maiden name, a unique and different name here in New Zealand and a tribute to my Colombian heritage.
