I made this painting in Albufeira Portugal. I was on holiday and stayed in an apartment building. Every morning I got out of bed at sunrise and started to paint. The painting is made 'en plain aire'. It was beautiful to see the sun rise behind the building and to listen to the souds of the birds while I was painting and drinking my first coffee of the day. I bought the ball with minimouse on it at a local market and put it in the swimmingpool. I think it is beautiful how the colour of the tree in the background and the stones in front of the pool and mini in the pool are in harmony with eachother. Also the colour of the water in the pool strengthens and deepens the colour of the building. I used oilpaint because oil has the best colours, the deepest and the most vibrant. The light in the painting I also love. There is a moving play with the shadows and the sun which you can only experience early in the morning. I signed the painting in the back of the painting, because I love to look at it and dream away and not be disturbed by a signature.
