MISREMEMBERED Painting

In this painting I am working to create a pictorial space that contains suggestions of memories or fragments of lives without direct referencing. It is partly about what remains and partly about the fact that we never see or remember everything; only fragments and portions are available to us.This painting continues a transition from the more literal- referenced focus of the previous series to having more abstract concerns as the act of painting itself becomes increasingly more important to me. In a sense, subject matter has become a 'way in' to painting for me and I have become much more interested in process rather than product over the past few years.
