Moonrise 04/04/2015 Painting

I painted this work after seeing the moonrise in Auckland at Easter, the night before a lunar eclipse and so the sky was having some intriguing shifts in colour. Particularly as the sun was going downs and you could watch the clouds fall out of reach of its rays, loosing their colour and turning from deep indigo clouds into grisaille forms. I had been looking at Rene Magritte's work at the time, in particular his depictions of dusk.
