Motherhood Painting

My first ever oil painting. Inspired by my family and started thanks to a couple of classes by an artist in Mexico City. It shows the artist's wife following the birth of our second child. The objective was to show the weariness but also the intimacy and safety in the group. On the more technical side, the artist's objetive as was to practice adding weight to his images and bringing forward the boy's arm and the head of his mother, for example, while also practising painting light. I am particularly pleased with the effect of the mother's clothes, her wrist, bracelet and pillow.
