"Mulligan" is one of the few remaining paintings from a series of more than 25 of jazz legends of the 1940s, 50s and 60s. I strove to create the work with surprising color, texture and movement in keeping with the nature of jazz.

I have been painting nearly full-time for 25 years in oil, acrylic and watercolor. I was born/raised in Minneapolis, MN, where I spent a career in advertising design and illustration. I began teaching around 1990 and was a member of the faculty and exhibition committee at the Edina Art Center and taught classes and workshops there for twelve years. I paint both in my studio and plein air on location.
