Silence is a pattern of behavior that operates around sexual abuse in a society that functions under a deep-rooted culture of power and reputation, sustained by the "silence" of its victims. Silence is the veil that makes sexual abuse invisible and therefore enables sexual abuse, which in these cases, more than a crime of lust, is an exercise of power and intimidation perpetrated in environments that are considered safe spaces, the most sacred institutions of our society, by their leaders: teachers, priests, rabbis, chiefs, politicians, parents, etc. Reporting is a challenge. Speaking, the voice of the victims is marginalized, it has no force when measured against the reputation of the perpetrator and the institution that supports him, as if the reputation were above such actions. There is an unspoken social warning: The system shames those who are abused by questioning the truth of their story. The first punishment is for whoever dares to expose the blamelessness of the reputation of power. Silence protects everyone's reputation. That of the victim, that of the abuser and that of the institution. Who knew that the very existence of the power system depends on the silence of the victims in the face of abuse?

I create as means for expression of the female psyche, the exploration of eroticism and the search for freedom through sexuality as a way to counteract the female oppression. My objects are inspired by the tropical exuberance that has always surrounded me and accompany me thru my becoming. I examine forms of nature, especially flowers and their relationship with the erotic and creative energy, using colors, layers, and aggressions to the canvas. I have been inclined to use paint in because of a fascination that I have since I was a child, with colors and visual aesthetics. I also experiment with knits and fabrics because I am passionate about the geometry and the symbolism present in the techniques used historically by women. I have a need to connect with people and contribute in some way to these obsessions.
