Navigating Through Life's Journey Painting

What/who inspired the work? From time to time I like to experiment with a new geometric design or pattern. That is how this one came to be. What do you hope its viewers will feel/think? The exactness of the design contrasts with the way the colors and texture have been applied. There is a controlled narrative by staying within the lines. It is tidy and organized and simple. Marie Kondo would keep this piece and throw out the rest. Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, style? Working with acrylic paints on paper is my favorite way to work. I also like mid-century modern style which includes geometry and Bauhaus and Mondrian and all of that. I live in a mid-century house and we have kept it close to its original style. Why the title? To me, I see a waterway that zig zags around mountains, symbolic of life leading us one direction, and then back and forth through trial and error, through guidance that is not always gentle. We are to stay the middle course, and some of us stay too close the the edges, thus we are forced into abrupt turns. This painting was done using acrylic paints on 18x24 inch 140 LB acid free watercolor paper and is ready to frame. Frames are available as this is a standard size. It will be shipped in a tube.
