The magic of Night We drop our bags off at the hotel and step out into the evening. A hundred motorbikes buzz around us as we shuffle cautiously across the street, hearts pounding in our throats. Then the view hits me and everything else in the world recedes. All travel-weariness forgotten in an instant. The night places a magical cloak softly around my shoulders, holding me in a spell of exotic beauty. Some details she shrouds in mystery, others are brought into focus. It takes the Night to see the dance of brightly coloured lights, sparkling merrily on the surface of the water, stretching out towards me, as if on tiptoe. The air hums with energy, drowning out the traffic sounds, balmy on my skin. Oh, Night. Day’s more mysterious, raven-haired sibling. Seductive. Sensual. Festive. A dark carpet-ride for the imagination, revealing as much as it conceals. Awash in starlight and dreams. Just waiting to be explored, tasted.

Nadine Prada is lucky to be alive. She survived an 8.8 earthquake in 2010 and left her high profile job as a multi-award-winning art director to devote her life to art making. Nadine’s work captures the awe, energy and wonder of what it feels like to be fully present in a place through the five senses, and how that can lead to experiences of transcendence. **Inspired by her travels and memories of her childhood in the Caribbean, Prada works most often in watermedia and thinks of her paintings as “happenings”, events that are built up in layers and frozen in paint. **Nadine was one of 18 artists featured in the inaugural season of Landscape Artist of the Year Canada, appearing on CBC, Makeful and Cottage Life TV in Canada, and Sky TV in the UK. She has appeared in The Toronto Star, Novella Magazine’s Art Hot List, and The Creator’s Journey podcast (alongside bestselling authors like Gretchen Rubin, Jonathan Fields and former bosses Nancy Vonk & Janet Kestin). In 2012, she was named one of 50 “Artists to watch” in Toronto by piccsy.com. Her work has been internationally shown and collected since 1999.
