About The Artwork
I painted this after having a vivid dream about my childhood the night before. The house represents a safe place. The wide expansive sky is symbolic of all of the possibilities that exist if the child is able to believe in herself and for that reason I placed the dwelling in the lower corner of the painting. The child is not painted but collaged from a photograph so that she remains a separate entity from the remainder of the story, the significance being that she is independent and able to grow into who she needs to become to fulfill her destiny.
