About The Artwork

I’m always inspired by everyday beauty that many people overlook. I find the look and feel of concrete can be very interesting to look at due to it’s imperfections and visual differences sometimes within the same piece of concrete. Concrete that is aged has endured many things. The weather and circumstances take a toll on it. But it’s still there. Sometimes concrete is painted on and people make an effort to cover up what’s underneath the grey wash. People share a lot in common with concrete. *Piece can be framed or I can ship unframed. If having it framed is desired, please communicate frame preference. Email if you have an example. Framing costs will be additional. Piece is also reinforced with hardboard panel on the back in order to eliminate flex in the canvas due to the use of cold wax medium.

I am an abstract painter who likes to experiment and explore the space between intent and chance. I use a variety of mixed media to explore that space but primarily work in oil. Constantly experimenting, I use a variety of supports to paint on; loose and stretched canvas, panel, wood, transparency film, paper, and even plexiglass. I paint both objectively and non-objectively. When painting abstractions of land and seascapes, I am inspired by the scenery of the places I have called home. I also seek exploration and adventure by painting pure non-objective abstract-expressions free of preconceived ideas. I put a lot of emotion into my paintings. Some are brash and bold while others are calm, tranquil, and sometimes minimalistic. Good art in my view elicits emotion; sometimes anger; sometimes sadness; sometimes peace; sometimes joy; but is always beautiful. That is what I try to convey to the viewer. I want the viewer to not only see the painting but to “feel” it as well. Please check back often for new works.
