ABOUT THE ARTWORK
After returning from Ethiopia in 2019 I decided to make some paintings that would draw on the experiences and reference materials from my time there. This painting, which is part of a group that includes a human figure, animals and land scape in the composition, is from that time. The symbolism expressed through voluptuousness of form, sexuality, colour and the different forms of being: human and bovine, dwells on the idea of fertility and shared substance of sentient beings. The hand gestures of the woman, which in the raised hand expresses unity, and in the lower: connection, reinforce the idea of the commonality of all things as sacred and deserving of respect.
