Oilfield V Painting

As an artist and employee at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam I am surrounded, inspired and influenced by many. Although perceived as landscapes by many I call them oilfields so that option remains of not being a landscape. It also reflects to color field painting by Newman and Rothko. The later is and association made by some as well. Admitting I look at his work with great joy and wonder. Its about control or rather the limitation of it. It is also about composition, of lines and color. Pictures make this work flat where in real time the depth of it is surprisingly big or far if you will. Just like with 'Cathedra' by Newman when you go real close and disappear into the blue. The idea of the Motor Oil returning to its field after the journey it made it has a connection to the concept of time and travel. Modern, Contemporary, abstract, expressionism and experiment. Creating new perspectives, with new materials, creating abstract based images unseen before.
