Ooh La La Moolah Painting

The idea for this Electric show stopper painting came about because of my experience on Instagram, in the pursuit of selling my art, I have put myself out there to ultimately make money. But in doing so I feel nude, exposed and vulnerable. Every time I list a painting, do a post or make a reel etc.. that’s why she is facing away, as she is symbolic of the insecurities that I have. To keep putting yourself out there is hard especially when you are starting out but I like the saying ‘Fake it till you make it!’ and see it as a positive mantra, as in putting out into the universe that you are doing better than you are until it catches up lol it’s also a reference to the fake money in the background :) I tried to source real USD $1 bills but it was too tricky as no one holds such a small denomination. FUN FACT: there are 144! Bills on this painting. I purposely left the money showing through her body to show she is money!/she is amazing! All the words around her are things people say regularly to me on Instagram, and icons that are familiar on Instagram :) I see this as a positive happy painting, with a beautiful strong woman its core! The Bird is from my Business Logo Songbird Designz, named after the Bernard Fanning song Songbird :) Created with layers of spray paint using stencils and free hand and then brush details have been added over top with ink. On a base of copy USD $1Bills that have been laid like bricks. With pops of red, yellow, pink and gold it’s sure to be the talking point in your home. It has blackened edges and has been finished with satin varnish, signed on the front ‘Debstar’ my street name :) and is ready to hang.
