MEASURES without frame: 40 cm x 58 cm (15.7 "x 22.8") MEASURES in frame: 71 cm x 88 cm (28 "x 34.6") Bernadsky Valentin Danilovich                             1917 - 2011 Ukrainian painter, landscape painter, master of thematic paintings. One of the founders of the modern Crimean art school. Valentin Danilovich Bernadsky was born on January 13, 1917 in the village. Ozeryany Chernihiv region. He received his first painting lessons from the professor of the Leningrad Academy of Arts A. Eisner. From 1937 to 1940 he studied at the Leningrad Art College, but was expelled from there - as the son of an enemy of the people. In 1940 he entered the Leningrad Academy of Arts (workshop of B. Johanson) and after the first year he was awarded a Stalin scholarship for brilliant success. In 1942, among the students of the Academy of Arts, Valentin Bernadsky was evacuated to Samarkand, where he was drafted into the army. After graduating from the military communications school, he fought at the front. In 1945, after the Victory and mobilization, he continued his studies. After graduating from the Academy with a group of the best graduates (FZ Zakharov, NF Bortnikov and others) he was sent to the Crimea by the Ministry of Culture of the USSR to teach at the Crimean Art College named after N.S. Samokisha, where he taught in 1950-1952. Since 1951, he constantly takes part in city, regional, all-Union, and since 1983 in foreign (Great Britain, Japan, Greece, USA, France) art exhibitions. Repeatedly held personal exhibitions of the artist. In 1958 he became a member of the NSHU. From 1970 to 1980, he was chairman of the Crimean organization of the Union of Artists of the USSR. In 1976 he received the title of Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR, in 1989 - the title of People's Artist of Ukraine, in 2003 - the People's Artist of Russia. In 2003, a personal exhibition of the artist was held in the Tretyakov Gallery. Since 2007 - Honored Artist of the ARC. Bernadsky V.D. - Laureate of the State Prize of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Since 2009 - Honorary Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts. In 2010, he received the Gold Medal "For Contribution to World Culture" of the International Fund "Cultural Heritage" (Russia). In 2011 he was awarded the distinction of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea "For fidelity to duty." The artist's works are in museum and private collections in Ukraine, Russia, USA, France, Holland, Great Britain. He lived and worked in Simferopol.
